Product Care
Eco-Leather Items
How do I take care of my Eco-Leather Trench Coat?
Leather pieces require gentle treatment and thorough attention. For removing tough stains use a dry cleaning service. Otherwise, gently wipe the area that needs attention with a soft and damp piece of cloth. To preserve initial colour of the eco-leather fabric, please avoid prolonged sun exposure and humid environments.
How do I store my Eco-Leather Trench Coat?
To preserve the life of your Trench Coat, VERTIGO advises you to store it buttoned or fastened on a wide hanger to avoid shoulder deformation. We do not recommend storing your item in a humid environment. Increased humidity can lead to deterioration of seams and tarnishing of metal embellishments. For long-term storage, please store your Trench Coat in a garment storage bag. In case of transportation, we do not recommend folding it into a suitcase filled with clothing and instead use a garment storage bag to preserve its shape and avoid wrinkling.
Can I iron my Eco-Leather Items?
Ironing items made of Eco-leather is a complex process that requires your full attention. In the case of wrongfully performing each step of the procedure, your item might receive permanent damage. For small and mild wrinkles, we recommend you pulling the wrinkled area in opposite sides with both hands several times. Store it on a wide, strong coat hanger. Please avoid frequent ironing of your eco-leather items and only perform this procedure in case of substantial wrinkles.
You can successfully iron your eco-leather items by following these steps:
1. Empty the water container in your iron.
2. Set your iron to the lowest heat setting.
3. Lay the item flat on a hard surface.
4. Place a thick cotton fabric or brown paper bag on the wrinkled portion of the eco-leather item.
4. Use the iron in quick, gentle strokes, only allowing the iron to touch the cotton or paper bag.
6. Continue moving the cotton or paper bag to other sections of the item, keeping it between the iron and leather until all wrinkles are removed.
Headwear: Berets and Bucket hats
How do I take care of my headwear?
VERTIGO berets are usually made of either premium Cashmere fabric or top-tier Eco-leather. In the case of the more delicate berets, the ones made of Cashmere, the most frequent and bothersome issue is the attachment of lint on their surface. Brushing your Cashmere beret with a felt hat brush will help you correctly clean the lint without damaging the delicate fabric. We advise you to brush it carefully in one direction to avoid disturbing the fabric weave even further. A lint roller is a good alternative to the brush.
How do I store my headwear?
To prolong the lives of your beloved VERTIGO headwear, it is important to find a way of storage that preserves their initial shape and prevents any binding. We recommend you to stuff every piece of headwear with tissue paper (and wrap the crown with paper if it's a bucket hat) and find a dry flat surface in neither a dry nor a humid environment. For maximum care, dedicate a carton box to each piece. And yes, do not forget to throw in some lavender sachet or moth balls to keep unwelcome pests away from damaging your beloved headwear (avoid the contact of the moth balls with the beret to prevent potential staining).
If you have to travel and would love to take your headwear with you, please do not transport it in a suitcase filled with other garments. This can lead to permanent shape deformation and wrinkles. Instead, use a box or leave it on your head.
Can I wash my headwear?
When it comes to your Cashmere beret, we strictly advise you to avoid washing the entire object and instead focus only on the necessary areas. How? In case of stains, start cleaning the stained area with a soft brush or natural sponge soaked in slightly soapy warm water, avoiding excessive soaking of the beret. To dry, always lay the beret flat, with a piece of paper inside, in the open air but away from light to preserve its original shape and colour. Never dry your beret on a heat source.
For the Eco-Leather berets and Bucket hats, we recommend that you follow the same procedure described above. Please clean topically the areas that need attention. And remember, because VERTIGO headwear is made of carefully selected and delicate fabrics, machine washing, hand washing and dry cleaning are not allowed as this processes can cause unexpected and permanent damage.
